Alien
"I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathies."
I can't even express how much I love Alien. It's up there with The Thing as THE sci-fi alien horror. Honestly, I say they're both perfect.
Alien has just about everything I could want in a horror movie: a few effective jumpscares, a few scenes of claustrophobic anxiety, and an intelligent protagonist. I'm telling you, Ripley was always right. I'd trust her with my life.
I love the way that the horror of Alien is so targeted at men. I feel like the horror of so many movies is pretty gender-neutral, with maybe a slight skew towards women with the frequency of male killers hunting down young women. Alien is almost like Rosemary's Baby with the same focus on the horror of birthing a demon child. I guess it's just that where the horror of Rosemary's Baby is in the demon child, the horror of Alien is in the birthing. That's so rad.
10/10 just for the cat honestly
