La Bamba
I am about to say every reason that this just cracked my top 4.
I watched La Bamba when I was 5 but I will not count it as I don't remember much. However this time watching it just absolutely shattered me. I grew up listening to Ritchie Valens my dad loved his music and We Belong Together was the first song I learned on guitar. So I have no idea why it's taken me so long to "rewatch" this
For starters this movie just took me on a roller-coaster at 3am. I am BAWLING at 4am now because of it.
I love the feel of this, 50s Califas. A huge part of me is very sad that I didnt grow up in California because it's where my dad is from and I think I would be more in touch with the Chicano culture. Something about this movie man, I think at least one piece is relatable to any Hispanic.
This biggest reason I began to bawl though is that, Ritchie and Donna's relationship is one of the few famous real or fiction relationships where a Latino is dating a white girl, and well that just hit me like a fucking nuke. I am so glad that I finally got to see a relationship that is like mine. I feel like there's always the Latina dating the token white guy but never the other way around.
So yeah welcome to the top 4 La Bamba
