Wicked
Watched the movie with zero expectations prior. The only idea I’ve had of this movie is that dumb “Elphaba Glinda” song on TikTok 😭. However , I’ve been a huge fan of The Wizard of oz as a child. Watching this movie healed the inner child inside me and made me want to reconnect with this whole story again.
About the plot itself, it angered me a lot how Elphaba was viewed as the “ wicked” witch and how Glinda was viewed as the cute, kindhearted witch, which in my opinion is completely untrue. Elphaba was criticized and bullied all her life for being green ??? having a dad who resented her for that too and for a sister who was ashamed of her actions most of the time , she is such a misunderstood character. She’s been through so much and she’s never had a shoulder to lean on, yet she gets the blame for anything. She’s such a caring and gentle being, especially when it came to the animals, and every sacrifice she’s made was for everyone’s own good and well-being. However , Glinda was just a very attention-seeking person. All she cared about was how everyone viewed her. She was absorbed into their opinions. She did try to become better. A small amount of character development was shown, but also the beginning of the movie threw me off. How was Glinda so okay with Elphaba’s death ? It seemed like she’s proud of it too, which is just extremely weird or maybe it’s just me.
Besides my opinion on Elphaba and Glinda, everything about the movie was genuinely perfect: the songs, the music, the visuals. I adored it.
