the dialogue is insane - but stripped down to what this is, it's a fun time at the movies and an entertaining big budget b creature feature. all the Jurassic heads know they've been working on this mutant storyline since the early 2000s and it was very cool to finally see it all realized on screen. Best installment since maybe Jurassic Park 3. I would watch this again, 100%.

the universe is large and yes it contains multitudes, but it also contains me. 🥹 without doubt, this is the best thing Mike Flanagan has ever done. The dialogue is a little too on the nose to merit a higher score, but overall thoroughly enjoyed this adaptation. calling it now that this gets a best adapted screenplay nom come awards season.

awkward plane watch - decent film.

idk - seeing a lot of people say this is "broke man propaganda" and i feel like that's a fundamental misunderstanding of the point of the film. love isn't about numbers, or height or assets. its not logical or mathematical or cold, even if we'd like for it to be that simple - it's a feeling that's out of our control regardless of the circumstances in which we find it: uncomplicated and easy. i didn't love the casting, but I thought the writing - though very obvious at times vs the subtleties we see in Past Lives, was what really made this film great. Song shows again in this film a talent for breaking down the idea of love and relationship dynamics; finding ways to romanticize something mundane or undesirable just because it's yours or just because it's real, it's worth having, it's valuable.
