Briony’s hair never changing as she grows up acting as symbolism for her inaction and guilt over what she did will always break my heart. What an awful thing to contend with. The inability to forgive oneself but also the equal inability to stop trying. Atonement indeed. People who hate on her lack media literacy and quite a lot of empathy.
