Sinners
Wunmi Mosaku Needs more love for her role in this movie she absolutely annihilated this role! Miles Caton Was fantastic here and some of his more subtle acting moments made the experience even better as a lot of this movie was relying on this character and it absolutely landed.
Brilliant filmmaking next to some of the best all around performances I’ve seen in film in a long time, not a single dud here. The art of what happens on and off screen was utilized phenomenally here and made for a shocking and unexpected experience. I went into this almost completely blind, only knowing Hailee Steinfeld was a foul mouthed vampire with a blaccent.
Will absolutely purchase this when it releases in 4k and will edit this later with more in depth praise as the lights just dimmed for Until Dawn
[POST UNTIL DAWN EDIT]
I’m sad I didn’t get to experience this in imax as the spectacle was not fully appreciated but I fucking LOVED the sound design here, some of the best uses of surround sound I’ve seen on film in a while. This was a movie that really reinstated the idea for me that a lot of films are meant to be seen theatrically with a crowd. The big screen experience is unmatched and it would have been way different had the old couple behind me not spouted off anti black slurs everytime the word Cracker was used.
All around loved this movie, I seen Until Dawn directly after and what’s on my mind moreso Is various sequences from Sinners that I will always remember my initial state of shock and awe. This movie made me feel every emotion possible in the best ways, I loved the end credit scenes and really adore the themes of brotherhood showcased here within Michael B Jordan (fantastic as always but he’s on thin ice so he don’t get a paragraph!). To my shock I was unaware of the fact this was going to make me cry, I am still in awe thinking of the third act. I’m sad I waited this long because by the time I get more money this film will no longer be in theaters around me.
