Three Goodbyes

I too prefer parasocial relationships with K-pop idols to the real thing. The portrait of a woman incapable of truly opening herself up to others, building walls around herself that ultimately condemn her to a profound loneliness. Only the imminence of death, brought about by a terminal diagnosis, gives her the courage to lower her defences and embrace what has always eluded her: love, friendship, and family. In a cruel irony, she allows herself to live fully just as her life draws to a close. The scene of the dove's funeral moved me deeply.
