Before Sunset
“Isn't everything we do in life a way to be loved a little more?”
I’ve heard of movies that you can rewatched at different stages in life and always get something new out of it, and now I’ve found mine. On Before Sunrise day (June 16th) I watched Before Sunset, and it’s as if any skepticism I had about love was gone. I did meet someone in a similar fashion as Celine and Jesse, where we spent a day with each other exploring the city (in this case, New York). We had met at a bar the night before during St. Patrick’s day where we sang karaoke of (I’ve Had) The Times of My Lives as a duet. The next day we went to lunch in Chinatown, got pastries on the Upper West Side, went to see a concert at the Philharmonic at the Lincoln Center, and spent the night in Queens in my small apartment.
As opposed to them, our story ended badly. So bad it gave me doubts in my choices and my trust. But I’m in love now, and I’m happier now.
So this review is for that person, in hopes that despite it all, we can live and love despite of endings, and to love for love’s sake.
