Dune: Part Two
What can I say about this movie that hasn't already been said? Every aspect of Dune: Part Two is truly perfect. Masterful acting, stunning cinematography and visual effects, one of the most big and grand stories we've seen, a score that somehow perfectly fits that universe and elevates it even higher, and it does all this following the story of Paul Atreides, one of the most interesting and complex characters in fiction.
I believe Dune and Dune: Part Two elevate each other so much, with Dune 2 being a perfect sequel, and Dune feeling more complete aftee Dune 2. I think you can kinda watch them back to back and see it as one movie, which really shows how they complement each other.
As a sci-fi lover, this is all you could ever ask for. Every part of this movie is done perfectly. The way Denis can take these sort of big, grand, complex stories and create a masterpiece in a less than 3 hour runtime is just absolutely insane to me. I don't think there is anyone else in the world who could've made Dune and Dune 2 as good as Denis did.
Timothee is truly able to do it all. Nah cause how do you go from playing Willy Wonka to Paul Atreides within a 2 month stretch and somehow you can do Marty Mauser the next year too??? While it's true his performance here doesn't reach the level of his other performances, it still contributes a lot to the success of the movie. Timmy is able to fit into every role perfectly. Even Denis said Timmy was the only one he saw as Paul.
The score. Man, the score. When you hear that lady singing in the back you already know it's gonna hit. The score somehow elevates every scene to a level it shouldn't be able to. Hans Zimmer is truly something else, he can capture anything into instrumentals. Tell me how tf he didn't win an oscar for this. Like ik he reused stuff from Dune and got disqualified but come on u have to make an exception for how good this score is.
I can go on and on about every perfect thing about this film, but I don't need to. It speaks for itself. If you'll watch this movie you'll understand what I'm talking about. This is like the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars of our time, truly a modern classic.
