Dune: Part TwoReece Bateman10.0· March 3, 2024FollowFirst off, this film deserves every bit of praise it has received as it's just that amazing. I was captivated the entire run time and not a single second of it felt like it was too long or it overstayed its welcome. The characters were interesting and seeing the way characters change throughout the movie is really interesting, especially with Paul as you see him slowly changing from denying the prophecy and him being the messiah to him embracing it and manipulating the Fremen and others into believing it for his own personal gain. This film is shot so magnificently that every single frame in the whole movie could be a wallpaper and is just an outstanding presentation of Greig Fraser's cinematography. From the vast sand dunes of Arakis to the black and white planet of Giedi Prime. each location is unique and offers something new and exciting to the world with every frame being beautiful to look at. Also the soundtrack. Wow. Just wow. It elevates every moment of the film and Hans Zimmer adds so much to the film that it immerses you even more. The astonishing fight sequences of the war at the end showed the immense spectacle and scale of the world along with the closer up hand to hand combat scenes showing the brutality of the fights, like the gladiator fight and especially the final fight between Paul Atredies and Feyd-Rautha at the end was incredible to watch and the lack of music in this scene made it much more grounded and scary. The performances were some of the best I've seen and every single actor put their all into this film and it could be every actor's best performance to date. Timothée Chalamet and Austin Butler's performances were especially noteworthy as they fully embodied the characters and made it that much more believable and terrifying. Stilgar was a personal favorite character of mine as every time Paul did anything at all, even straight up denying that he is the Messiah, Stilgar would glaze him and say "as it was written" to reinforce the prophecy even more which was hilarious every time. With Dune Part 2, Denis Villeneuve has cemented himself as one of the best working directors of our lifetime and I can only look forward to what else he has in store for us all.CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the appSee all Reece's reviews for Dune: Part Two (3)First watch10.0March 3, 2024Rewatch 110.0March 6, 2024Rewatch 210.0October 13, 2024
