Train Dreams
this movie didn’t even bother to keep your head above water it forces you down and makes you sit with him in the grief. i’m left with a dull ache and a newfound freedom.
here are the lines i found very profound
“but on that spring day, as he misplaced all sense of up and down, he felt, at last, connected to it all.”
“we’re but children on this earth, pulling bolts out of the Ferris wheel, thinking ourselves to be gods.”
“it feels like the sadness will just eat me alive, but… sometimes it just… It feels like it… it happened to somebody else.”
“in that year, a great comet appeared in the sky, which many said signalled the end of days. But after two weeks, it faded away as quietly as it had come.”
this movie wasn’t selfish, it didn’t try to coerce me into a feeling it simply existed and i felt.
