Alien: Romulus
I’ve seen a lot of IMAX films in my lifetime, but very few have managed to make me feel like THAT walking out of the theatre. A visceral, full body connection to what you’ve just experienced. Filmmaking that opens up a little glimmer in my eye and I feel butterflies in my stomach as it unfolds on screen. That final 30 mins is among the greatest science fiction horror spectacle my little peepers have ever gazed upon.
NOW I absolutely must address that for some reason this film has decided to narratively include something completely unnecessary, executed at an egregious level. However I’ve always said I rate films on how they make me feel and my overall enjoyment so this unfortunate misstep did NOT ruin what aside from that is just another Fede masterclass in JUICEEEE!!!! The amount of outrageous set pieces in this thing is beyond impressive. Whoever is saying this is just a re-hash of other Alien films could not be more wrong. The creativity and approach to thrilling moments absolutely cements this as its own vehicle of awesomeness!!
The visuals of this shit had me in complete awe in many moments throughout, and I adored how they explored and built out other parts of the world, like the mining colony planet etc.
Exhilarating cinema WORTHY of it’s predecessors in what’s now becoming a top 3 franchise oat for me. Serious levels here. I love this shit so fucking much.
WHAT A PICTURE.
That is why I pay money to go to the cinema.
