Boogie Nights

Basically a first watch as I hadn’t seen it since I was a teenager. I will never get over PTA being 26 when he made this absolute gem. Serious levels most seasoned directors wish they could achieve. From start to finish it’s a stylish, rampant, audacious display of filmmaking. Paced to perfection. The huge emotional swings of the narrative are certainly felt as you witness both sides to this chaotic way of life. There’s a particular sequence that cuts back and forth between the downward spiral of multiple characters simultaneously and it’s simply chefs kiss. Magnificent stuff.  One of the greatest living auteurs.
