Poor Things
Saw this with my mom knowing what was in it.Poor Things isn't Yorgos Lanthimos' most funny or most disturbing, but it is his most fascinating.
Each of the lead characters are clearly established and interesting to watch, mainly Stone and Ruffalo. Everybody in this movie gives a stand out performance and are full of dead emotion.
Everybody is trapped in a Victorian/futuristic setting that's seems to have been crafted by David Lynch and Wes Anderson. This isn't stupid though, given the themes of the film, about women's liberation, parental influence, societal expectations, and female orgasms, the setting makes the themes feel timeless.
Finally, I wanted to say that the aspects of thai film are justifiable. This is the film that, similar to Shortbus, uses sex as a vehicle to tell ab interesting story about society. A marvelous film.
