Chernobyl
what first felt like a poor decision to watch this during both an election and pandemic quickly became a very smart decision once i finished the last episode.
i cannot even begin to explain how immensely horrific and brutal this event was and i felt sick to my stomach during some scenes, and the fact that it was a very real event makes it much more devastating. such a colossal malfunction has taken thousands of lives and has made the entire area inhabitable to this day and may never be fully safe for hundreds of years. i cannot stress enough the importance of science and how listening to scientists is utterly non negotiable, and how especially now during not only a pandemic but also a global warming crisis only makes the importance of science and government efforts to help fix things much more critical. we must listen.
aside from the obvious strong emotional reaction i had to this series, i can say without a doubt this is such a strong and well made piece of television and they managed to capture everything all within five episodes. the script and acting are incredible and the cinematography and score elevate that by a thousand. a little disappointed in myself for not getting around to this sooner, but hey, better late than never.
top quality content from hbo and while i don't think i'd ever rewatch simply because of how heavy it is i still think this is severely incredible and highly important. i strongly encourage everyone to watch this. i'm going to be thinking about this show for quite a long time.
