Sinners
A beautiful tapestry of black artistry and the rich history of our music but also a bloody vampire modern-classic. Making us wait over an hour for any vampire action is what sets this apart from the rest of the horror genre as it puts the characters first, making the eventual death and chaos actually impactful and tragic. Coogler using literal blood sucking monsters to portray culture vultures, white supremacy and the way black music & art has been stolen and misused by white society for years is so genius. Also more movies need to use mid credit scenes better, this one is better than any Marvel movie teaser because it is actually a much needed bookend to the narrative and makes me cry every time.
