The Thing
For me, this is the definition of a movie that keeps getting better by the minute. Kurt Russell is very good. However, I’ll be honest and say that the first 10-15 minutes felt a little slow. But I understand that the introduction was important for establishing the main problem and the characters.
The production design, the practical effects, and the props are absolutely outstanding. I cannot stress enough on how amazing and horrifying the effects look like. As well as the explosions look astonishing. The lack of music allows the viewers to concentrate on the story and increases the tension throughout the movie.
Another interesting feature I’ve noticed is the use of color contrast between red and blue. The red flares and the blue and cold environment look beautiful together. The color red in my interpretation symbolizes riot, hierarchy, and emotionality. And the color blue symbolizes calmness, indifference, and loneliness in some way.
