The Lighthouse
I love Robert Eggers. He seems like one of those ballsy dudes that you less and less of in the film industry today. He’s that type of filmmaker that knows exactly what he wants from his movie, and if anyone tells him he can’t do it he won’t play ball because he doesn’t want to sacrifice his work. I would never be able to do that personally, and that’s why I love it.
As for the movie itself, The Lighthouse is incredible. It’s one of few movies I watched where at the end I’m thinking to myself “how do you even begin to go about making a movie like that?” The whole thing is incredible, frightening, funny, masterful, rich, and beautiful. Everyone has said the Rob and Willam are wonderful in this, no need for me to spend much time saying that because they’re also incredible. I’m probably gonna go on a bit of Willam Defoe marathon after this.
Anyways. Watch this. Even if you have to drive over an hour to see it. Watch it.
