The Thing

Watching this movie people who’ve never seen it is always such a fun experience. The movie is pretty slow for the first half hour but then it just explodes with paranoia and absolutely astonishing visual effects. Every single moment with the INSANE makeup in this movie takes my breath away. Everything still looks so fucking good and the effects are 40 years old. When that guy’s head sinks off his body only to grow legs and wiggle across the floor. Brilliant. This film totally sucks me into the bonkers story happening. The stakes are genuinely so high. How many horror movies do you know where by the end you’re genuinely scared for every person on the planet. Don’t even get me started on the masterful ending. The Thing is just one of those movies where every single note hits me perfectly. You really get the feeling that something has suddenly begun fall apart into an extremely dangerous situation for everyone. This gets that 100/100 from me after having seen it a few times. All the fades to black are a bit goofy to me.
