Materialists

Materialists (2025) Review 6/10 I had high expectations since I watched Past Lives before this. This is not very good. Styled as a rom-com, but about existential romance. Pascal and Johnson’s characters have little to no chemistry and no genuine event that brings Johnson’s character back to Evan’s character. The pacing is so off and the dialogue is so inhuman. Johnson delivers a performance that ultimately fails as a low quality performance is coupled with low quality writing. I do not know why and how Song’s writing skills have decreased since 2023. There are a lot of problems in this film but it is all right. This sort of entertained me but lacks in multiple departments.
