The Wachowskis, who also wrote the screenplay, were inspired by a large number of works, including novels, comics and video games, the clearest one surely is "Ghost in the Shell" that stands out among the many. Stylistically Matrix is extraordinary, kinetic, evocative, visually stunning and exciting, with meticulously constructed images and choreographed action sequences to thrill the eye and speed up the beat, slow motion, quick cuts, and unusual humor to paint a unique portrait.
