Monkey Man

dev patel is a fucking visionary (and he’s gorgeous). this has all you could ever want in a film: sad, heartbreaking flashbacks, gory, action-packed fistfights, quick-witted smart humour and thievery, a woman respecter, an adorable dog, the religious politics of india, themes of darkness, bloody revenge, trauma and god-willed divinity. not to forget written, directed and starring dev patel. all filmed spectacularly and some even on a fucking iphone. other-fucking-worldly. easily the best film of 2024. jid’s 151 rum goes so well film so well too
