The Odyssey

“It told you what you most want is what you most can't have. And what you most can't have is what you already had and lost. It was the song of all the promises I failed to keep. And it told me I don't really want to go home.” You know when a movie changes your life? This is genuinely it. My movie of the year. Nobody does it like Christopher Nolan. One of my favorite directors for a reason. His direction is as fantastic as always. The cast is absolutely stellar. Great performances from the cast all around, but I’d really like to highlight Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Himesh Patel and Tom Holland. They all really stood out for me in the best of ways. I expected all of the cast to kill it, but Himesh Patel had me absolutely surprised by his acting. It’s mainly because I admittedly haven’t seen any of his acting roles until The Odyssey, but he was absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to see more of him in film. I gotta watch more of his stuff. Made me a fan after this performance. I can’t forget to highlight Elliot Page and Lupita Nyong’o. They absolutely devoured the runtimes they had, despite both being very short. I loved their performances so much. The color grading and editing were also excellent. Cinematography as well. I was enthralled by each shot and how everything was framed. Just magnificent filmmaking at work. The writing was also fantastic, so many lines of dialogue had me in awe & even moreso with the amazing talent & their line deliveries making them all the more sweeter. It was an absolute honor and privilege to see this movie in IMAX 70mm the way it was meant to be seen on the big screen. The projection was very vibrant and sharper than a digital IMAX projector ever could project a film & the huge screen was awe droppingly breathtaking. The moment I walked in and saw the 80 feet tall IMAX screen I was enamored & overwhelmed of the size of it. The photos I’ve seen online really don’t give it justice. I highly recommend the film. Please go see it on the biggest screen that you can. I know IMAX 70mm is a rare commodity and most tickets are sold out everywhere but if you can make the trip and find a ticket, please do, it’s so fucking worth it.
