absolutely haunting. i was beyond impressed by all aspects of this. the direction from haynes is incredible, as is the score. i absolutely loved the screenplay too, so many lines are going to stick with me for a very long time. the core trio all give top notch performances. natalie portman nails this character and julianne moore is really great as this despicable human being. the mvp for me would have to be charles melton, who truly captures a twelve year old boy in an adult man’s body through his physicality and mannerisms. it’s a beautifully layered performance. the scenes with him and his son on the roof is beyond heartbreaking. from riverdale to the academy awards! this is definitely one of my favorites of the year and i don’t see that changing.  2023 ranked
