“But I finally found someone who believed me” “What did you do then?” “I married him.” That line alone already makes me weak because it sums up everything I love about this film. Out of all the Conjuring movies, this is the one that really sticks with me. The scares are there, yes, and the tension is solid as fuck, but what makes it special is how much soul it has. Ed and Lorraine carried the whole thing in a way no other horror couple could. You didn't just watch them fight demons, you watch them constantly choose each other. I think, that's the reason why this film stands out as the best in the franchise. Others might have louder jumpscares or hauntings, but nothing beats how grounded this feels. That's what makes this the peak for me. The one I'll always go back to.
