Bottle Rocket
“On the run from Johnny Law. It ain’t no trip to Cleveland”
Bottle Rocket could be called a heist movie, but it spends a fair bit of time detached from the crime aspect, and so I don’t think of it in that way.
This film is very troupey, but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt as a early work of a now esteemed director. Nonetheless, the 90s of this movie really bleeds through.
from a cinematic perspective, no complaints solid filmmaking throughout this project.
The themes of this film center around the Characters, and their respective interactions. The inversion of Dignan and Anthony was a particularly interesting concept. I found the fact that they were half-assing being criminals utterly hilarious, like this was their last option for occupation.
All in all, Bottle Rocket puts together a fun, wacky take on a heist film. Frequently flipping drama for shenanigans and generally turning the genre on its head.
