Michael
Just saw this masterpiece in IMAX, closest thing you’ll get to an MJ concert.
The spirit of Michael Jackson lives on through Jafaar. If Rami Malek and Austin Butler received oscar nominations for their respective roles, I see no reason why jafaar Jackson shouldn’t be in the picture.
Colman Domingo should also be in the picture, absolutely haunting presence on screen.
Huge respect for giving Quincy Jones his flowers, reminding you how unnoticed he goes in MJ’s shadow. Without Quincy’s beats, there is no Michael Jackson.
The negative feedback for this film, mainly due to it not being the story “film critics” wanted to see, is absolute nonsense, as is the concept of disliking a story because you would have told it a different way.
Both MJ actors capture his likeness perfectly, with certain scenes looking almost AI generated due to the uncanny resemblance.
The song is for MJ fans. If someone wants to make a film on his allegations and not his music (which is what makes him the GOAT), then nothing is stopping them…
Thankfully the film concludes with a suggestion that there will be a sequel, which will most likely go into that side.
This got a standing applause in the cinema, something I’ve not witnessed since No Way Home.
This is the best biopic I’ve ever seen. IMAX is a must if you want the concert feel.
