Sentimental Value

The way that Joachim Trier characterizes such heavy themes of depression, trauma, and the effects having an absentee parent in this story is played out so beautifully. Each of these characters find a way to get you so emotionally invested in the plot with how strong this script is along with the amazing performances everyone turns in. I caught so much more than I did my first watch that improved my perception of this amazing story so greatly and I absolutely loved every part of it. From the visit Agnes gives Nora at her home and the deeply emotional reflection of their lives these two share and further on to the end of this film completely broke me, and the family dynamic built here is just something my words couldn’t do justice for.
