this might actually be the longest situationship ever and also i loved how emotionally complex and real rosie's character was, especially since old films didn't really develop female characters that well. it was definitely hard to pick a side, because i did understand rosie's perspective as a distraught woman confused about what could actually give her happiness after facing nothing but dissapointment from the second man in her life that she trusted would be different from the first, but raju's perspective as a lover and a deeply attached (dare i say slightly obsessive) man was fair too. i really enjoyed the connection to the advaita vedanta and the bhagavad gita, and the way the philosophy was portrayed through his worldly body and soul highlighted the essence of it pretty well. honestly i guess you actually reach enlightenment if you're in a talking stage for too long, and that's kind of how i imagined it to be too. mans genuinely attained god before he attained her
