Ratatouille
Credentials/background determine potential vs anyone can be talented
Skinner believes talent and potential are determined by one’s background and social position. That Gusteau’s successor should be someone with legitimate culinary credentials.
Remy believes talent can come from anyone, regardless of who they are.
Remy is a rat. According to the social hierarchy of the restaurant, he has absolutely no legitimate place in the kitchen, but he possesses genuine artistic talent.
Linguini is human, he’s in a prestigious kitchen, and he has a legitimate connection to Gusteau, yet he’s terrible at cooking.
Anton Ego is extremely elitist. He despises Gusteau’s slogan, "Anyone can cook," viewing it as a populist dilution of high art. Because he thinks only select few geniuses with the right background and status can achieve greatness.
authenticity > status
