Barbie
literal chills. i couldn’t stop smiling the entire time, i just loved everything about it. the sets were absolutely spectacular, the cast outsold, it was able to get away with not really taking itself too seriously while also spreading such an important message in a way that brought tears to my eyes. i absolutely adored the satirical aspects of not only the barbie doll’s implications but also society as a whole, the slapstick comedy elements made this movie so lighthearted and i could honestly watch this a thousand times and never get sick of it ❤️❤️ greta gerwig nailed this movie and i couldn’t see anyone else taking on such a mammoth cinematic task. EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL was taken into deep consideration, i just cannot fault anything about it!!! i love love love the dance scenes, the bright colours and energetic performances just radiate immense positivity and the entire packed cinema was laughing along, and the vibes ugh chefs kiss 💋 while all of this is amazing, the flow from perfect harmony to displaying the problems of gender roles and sexism was seamless. one of the most important messages of this movie is that feminism doesn’t aim to reverse the roles but rather aims for gender EQUALITY, and i love that gerwig showed the issues of toxic masculinity faced by men; regardless of gender, everyone should be allowed to express themselves <3 another work of art by greta gerwig, i’m so happy that she’s receiving more recognition bc she’s exactly what not only the film industry needs but what the whole world needs !!!
ps michael cera i love u
