Brokeback Mountain
omg this movie completely shattered me i literally can’t even see my screen my eyes are so full of tears it hurts so much. the love between those two guys was so pure but also so trapped by everything around them like society just wouldn’t let them be happy and it’s just so unfair and painful to watch.
heath ledger and jake gyllenhaal’s performances are everything you could ask for — you feel their pain, their hope, their desperation, and the way they have to hide their feelings for years just breaks your heart over and over. every small moment between them feels so heavy like it’s a secret they’re scared to lose but can’t live without.
the part that hit me the hardest was when he goes into jack’s room and sees the shirt he thought he lost, and the little detail of it being jack's shirt covering ennis' but then at the end when his daughter comes and leaves and he opens the cupboard and this time, ennis' shirt is covering jack's, like one last final embrace. i started crying so hard here i could barely breathe. and the pictures as well, the memories frozen in time — and he whispers “jack i swear” it was like the weight of all the love and loss just crushed me. i’m literally sobbing again thinking about it right now.
it’s like their love never died even if they had to pretend it did. the kind of love that haunts you, that stays with you forever, even when you lose everything.
my heart hurts so much i’m literally broken. i can’t stop crying and i feel empty and full of everything at the same time. this movie is so sad but so beautiful. i don’t think i’ll ever get over it.
rating: 9/10 — a masterpiece of heartbreak and love that stays with you forever. be warned, it will ruin your soul but in the best way.
