La La Land
this movie is literally gorgeous. from the moment it starts, with that opening number on the highway, i was already hooked. the music is EVERYTHING, and the whole movie feels like it’s in this dreamy world where anything can happen—i was living for that.
emma stone as mia? flawless. she brings so much heart and depth to her character, and you totally feel her struggle between chasing her dream and dealing with life’s reality. ryan gosling as sebastian is perfect too. he’s got that charm, but his passion for jazz really makes his character stand out. the chemistry between them? instant. like, immediately you’re rooting for them.
the whole movie is like a love letter to la, dreams, and the sacrifices we make to follow them. but also, i’m gonna be real—this movie wrecked me. like, it was all so perfect until it wasn’t. you get so invested in their relationship, and then, without giving too much away, the ending? it’s bittersweet. i thought i was gonna get that happy ending, but the way it ended was just so real—it hit differently.
and the scene where mia comes into the bar with her husband, now all successful, and sebastian’s there owning the place? and then he sings their song, and they share that moment? i lost it. like, the look on their faces, the way they both know what could’ve been, and the way he plays their song? that just broke me. and then the last song, where it’s like, what if they had a child together, what if they lived happily ever after? i couldn’t even breathe. it was so heartbreaking, and yet beautiful.
i love how it blends the magic of musicals with real-life struggles. the music, the performances, the visuals—everything is just stunning. this is definitely one of those movies that sticks with you long after it ends.
9/10 from me. i’m still thinking about it days later. it’s like a dream, but with a dose of reality thrown in.
