bro this show had me in a chokehold fr. like i didn’t even know chess could be this intense but somehow i was glued to the screen like my life depended on a pawn moving two spaces. beth harmon is such a baddie. like she’s out here serving looks, being a genius, destroying grown men in chess tournaments while popping pills and sipping whiskey like it’s capri-sun. she’s literally so unhinged but in the most girlboss way possible. every outfit she wore ate. the bob haircut? the eyeliner? the 60s fashion? she carried the entire aesthetic movement on her back. also the guys in this show… like benny with the cowboy hat?? why was that kind of attractive idk. plus all the chess nerds lowkey had their own vibe going. i love how she just casually humbles all of them and they’re still obsessed with her. and the ending… chef’s kiss. like seeing her sitting in the park playing chess with the old men?? it was so full circle and perfect and emotional without being corny. 10/10 — this show made me want to buy a chess board and pretend i’m a strategic mastermind when i still have to count squares manually. no regrets tho.
