Obsession
"Well I guess the good thing about a closed book is I get to read it from the start."
I FORGOT TO EVER PUBLISH THIS.
this movie made me more uncomfortable than most horror movies ever have, and i mean that as the biggest compliment.
what makes it so terrifying isn’t just the gore (which was INSANE), it’s how real it all feels. people actually do things like witchcraft hoping someone will love them. people become obsessively attached the way nikki did. and some of the things she was willing to do? as psychotic as they were, there are genuinely people out there who would go that far. that’s what made it stick with me.
and can we talk about bear for a second… that man was the REAL villain.
i NEVER and i mean never scream at horror movies, but this one had me yelping a little bit… every time i thought it couldn’t get more disturbing, it somehow did. disgustingly good in the best possible way.
what really elevated it for me was that underneath all the blood and shock value, there was genuine tragedy. seeing nikki fight to hold onto herself while constantly slipping in and out of her own consciousness made the ending hit so much harder.
absolute cinema. as they say.
