Pressure
A film about the invisible labour behind the most famous military operation in history. Scott carries the film on his shoulders, embodying the meteorologist as an unwilling oracle, someone who understands the weather but can't make others listen. Fraser is staggeringly miscast, moving awkwardly in the role, never quite settling into the authority the part requires, though the film doesn't entirely depend on him. At 110 minutes, it stretches thin in the middle, the score working overtime to maintain tension that the dialogue alone can't quite sustain. But there's real power in watching intelligent people trapped by their own inability to control outcomes. I feel like if this was the hands of an Edward Berger type it would have had the tension and anxiety the subject deserves.
