Macbeth
One of Béla Tarr’s early works (and it definitely shows). It’s a rather mediocre piece, but considering it’s a television production (and a student project), there isn’t much to criticize. The camerawork is solid and begins to define Tarr’s signature style with long takes and a slow pace. The performances are good, though not remarkable. It’s a film that doesn’t have much to offer beyond being shot in two extended takes, something not every amateur director could pull off. Still, it stands as a decent adaptation of Macbeth.
