Parasite
Still just as excellent as the first time I watched. Bong Joon Ho"s Parasite so entertainingly presents a story of people who are willing to go so far just to get the slightest change of partaking in this bourgeois vice that the Park family is able to take part in everyday. The film so perfectly captures how capitalism compels the working class to compete against and ultimately cannibalize one another for scraps, turning workers into adversaries in the struggle for survival. Ki-taek’s family is not apathetic or egotistical; instead, they are products of a system that leaves them no real alternative. Their desperation reflects the violence of a social order in which the upper class lives in effortless abundance while the working people is forced to fight among itself for access to the very basics of survival.
