Sinners
I am your way out. This world already left you for dead. Won't let you build. Won't let you fellowship. We will do just that. Together. Forever.
Sinners is less about blood-sucking vampires than it may seem, and what it’s actually about is forced cultural assimilation.
The entire point behind why the vampires are Irish is as a callback to how the Irish needed to assimilate into American society, and how they lost their own nationality for that specific reason
Remmick promises everything he knows Smoke can’t get, something most specifically is companionship.
What the “vampires” do lose is their own sense of being, as long as Remmick’s alive. Remmick is clearly the hive mind leader, and everyone else follows his orders without thinking, until his untimely death. The hive mind still care about Mary, and they still want Mary to live, not for normal power reasons, but instead to keep their own sense of belonging.
The juke joint existed in a lie of companionship, when it really served as a prison. The people would not survive past sunset, regardless of whether the vampires caught them or not; the Klan would've shot them the next day.
Göransson delivers as usual, and Miles Caton is incredible on the mic—no other words.
