La La Land

🎹99% “Welcome to Seb’s” Journey to My Top 25: Drive naturally put me in a Gosling mood, and I’ve still got a couple more of his to revisit for the purpose of this list. This film couldn’t be more gorgeous if it tried. There are just so many beautiful shots; it’s impossible to choose a favorite. Though, the planetarium scene as a whole is eye candy. Not only is this a great script, but Gosling and Stone have impeccable chemistry. I love that this film manages to be so happy and bright and beautiful, and still leave me absolutely gutted every time I watch it. The direction is masterful, filled with subtle moments, parallels, great lighting decisions, and beautiful musical numbers. A favorite moment of mine being when Mia begins to hear the jazz over the conversations at dinner, it’s a subtle moment that the viewer knows the exact meaning of. La La Land is a beautiful tale of love, following your dreams, finding peace, regret, and the timing of life. It features gorgeous visuals throughout, both with beautiful shots, set design, and camera work making it one of the best looking films I’ve ever seen. It also features fantastic direction and two powerhouse performances. This film would not be as great as it is without Gosling and Stone. This is making the list too lol. **All 2023 Viewings List **
