Unequivocally a movie of the 2020's. Takes the classic thematic callings of directors like Lynch, PTA and Altman and combines them with the grounding of horror to create something entirely new. Echos the personal and political turmoil of the modern day in melancholia and fury. I've been waiting for this film since it was basically announced considering me and my sister were huge fans of Cregger's (formal) debut Barbarian so the five star rating might go down on rewatch but I'm just glad a film that takes this many massive swings can be released by a major studio under late stage capitalism and the arts continually being turned into business year by year. Cregger really taped into something deeply personal here and hearing him talk about this for the last three years is just a testament to that. Take care of your kids.
