Fucking awesome, the movie that won me over to be a fan of Smith's work. Hilarious, profound, and depressing, probably my all time favorite shoestring budget film.
Absolutely fantastic. Smith's second masterpiece; a story about losing and finding faith set in his wild View Askewniverse. Check out my review for my full thoughts.
Very strong sequel, funny as fuck, although comedy is definitely emphasized this time, not that I'm complaining. Also, this movie received an eight minute standing ovation at fucking <b>CANNES</b>. Your argument is invalid.
:)))) this movie fuckin rules. Some gags don’t land but so transparently self-reflexive and personal, not to mention pretty goddamn funny! Some truly bizarre choices, but honestly I kinda fuckin loved it. Can’t believe they went there w the ending
Pretty good effort from Smith here. Something I admire from him is his ability to be laugh-out-loud hilarious one moment and be profound the next. Surprisingly really cool cinematography, but performances are questionable, and I think Smith loses his sense of diligence in the third act.
<i>Red State</i> is an excellent unordinary effort from Smith here! I could see this being a cult classic, read my review for my full thoughts. I described it to a friend as "<i>Green Room</i> with the Westboro Baptist Church instead of Neo Nazis"
<i>Mallrats</i> is a very fun movie but not a very great movie. This is really a 3 star movie but I found myself laughing out loud at multiple points. Brodie is a decent second rate Randall, I mean Jason Lee was in the same "funny slacker right hand man" role as in <i>Chasing Amy. </i> Fuck, the more I think of it, Kevin Smith puts an exact Dante/Randall duo in all of his movies.
Interesting to watch Smith make a comedy outside of his Askewniverse and while there's not a lot to it, I definitely enjoyed myself and it's so great to see Jeff Anderson acting. Dude is so goddamn funny and I always wished he did more.
Holy fuckin shit. It was a 4 star movie until Johnny Depp showed up. What the fuck, though.
Smith's <i>Halloween</i> Segment; Rating 1.5/5 Jesus fuck, why?? It's funny but probably not in great ways. Basically, let's watch the guy from Epic Meal Time get his nuts electrocuted on webcam while Kevin Smith's daughter laughs. I just don't get it... they give him <b>HALLOWEEN</b> for a fucking <b>HORROR ANTHOLOGY</b> movie and <i>this</i> is what he gave us. Come on, Kev.
