Sinners
a film that showcases why music and sound design matters just as much as what we see on screen. so impressive. the way it also builds up to one of the most interesting depictions of (black) musical history as the boiling point. after that, the film completely switches gears into something else. and it works, because that scene wrapped up the first half while simultaneously setting the stage for the second half.
there's so much more i could say about what makes this so wonderful (the pacing, character work and general world building, its themes) but in the end it comes down to sinners being a reminder of why i love film as a medium.
