The Hate U Give
The Hate U Give Little Infants Fucks Everybody
THUG LIFE
this movie has good balance. also i thought it was great how they spoke on how interpersonal relationships with people you know are just as important as the general public when trying to educate on injustice and in this movie specifically being black when police brutality is just around the corner.
i thought another important aspect was the reality/idea of being too black in white spaces and too white in black spaces, the critic many black ppl get when in interacial relationships or being a part of both worlds that don’t seem or interact with members of both populations. subsequently the idea of also having to limit yourself so as to not draw any attention to the idea that you don’t quite fit in, in both worlds.
drugs and gang life are other important things that this movie speaks on. i liked how it both subtly chastises drugs and gang life but also understands the idea that the reason why people are in situations like that is because of the system at large that is maybe not allowing them to have affordable or free healthcare.
logistically, this was a very good movie with great talent and a nice run time that didn’t make the it feel rushed.
