The Thing
"Why don't we wait here a little while.. see what happens."
This is the second time I'm watching this movie and I noticed a very key detail in this film that adds a lot to the plot and sequences of events.
When MacReady and Blair went to the Norwegian camp, there were some key details that were placed very strategically: the axe sliced through the door, and the holes on the walls of the camp. Initially, the visit to the Norwegian camp was shown in order to foreshadow what was going to happen to the Americans after they were infiltrated by The Thing.
In the first part of the movie when the dog gets out of his disguise, we see another dog ripping the cage for a way out of the hellhole. I couldn't help but notice that in the Norwegian camp the same pattern of holes were put across the walls, showing that they too like the dogs were infiltrated by The Thing and they ripped their asses of for a way out.
As for the axe, we see Childs using the same type of axe to break into the room where MacReady is. These parallels were used in such a good way where it slowly gave subtle foreshadowing for the fate of the Americans there.
All in all, this is an amazing movie with fascinating visuals that is way ahead of its time.
