Perfect Blue
It’s a whole psychological meltdown disguised as animation and I’m still not okay after it.
Satoshi Kon really said “let’s destroy reality, identity, and your sanity all at once” and actually delivered. the way it blurs what’s real vs delusion? insane. I was literally sitting there like “wait WHAT is actually happening??” every 5 minutes.
Mima’s descent hits so uncomfortable in a good way, like it gets under your skin and just stays there. it’s creepy, intense, and somehow beautiful at the same time. definitely not a chill watch, but it’s one of those films that sticks in your brain and refuses to leave.
