Blade Runner
"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."
The amount of reviews saying this had no plot/ what even happened, are the reason why they had shitty voiceover in the initial release.
This was a brilliant movie and the world is rife with love, atmosphere and attention. I love how the past present and future all fused into this futuristic Los Angeles with architecture from various styles and time periods matching this film noir cyberpunk story that I was captivated with. This movie isn't an action movie, but a slow burn philosophy piece that questions you on what makes an individual, is Deckard a replicant? It's not something we are supposed to know, but to question. There's a paranoia surrounding this world, with giant corporate logos implying that this world is ruled not by democracy anymore but capitalism and corporate. As well as a Metropolis inspired vertical city that emphasizes class discrepancies. Everything is synthetic and created for capital in this post ecocide world.
This film captivates you with its beautiful effects and captivating philosophical questioning to keep you watching again and again which I don't mind as this movie is amazing, I am not the biggest sci-fi fan, but there's something about stories and worlds like this and Cyberpunk 2077, Psycho-pass, Ghost in the shell which were all inspired by this, that I adore. Akira and Blade Runner were both inspired by a story called Moebius that I kind of want to check out.
