Interstellar
This film is quite polarising. Some people absolutely hate it while some people absolutely love it. I haven't seen it since a few years, so I was usually shocked when people ranked it as their favorite Nolan movie and now that I have seen it, I can totally understand why they think so. This movie is a fricking masterpiece. And the fact, I got to watch this movie in my college lecture hall(almost as big as a theatre) was an out of world experience. Visually, this is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. Just watching this movie makes you fall in love with space. But don't let that fool you into believing that this movie is just beauty with no soul. You couldn't be more wrong. This movie has no shortage of highly anxiety inducing scenes as well the most emotional scenes. This might be a space movie about saving humankind but that father-daughter relationship is still the heart of this movie. Apart from that, Nolan just being a part time filmake and full time physicist once again. Also, fun fact - during one scene, a character says that the moon landing was fake and guy from my college got really pissed and started explaining to his friend why she was wrong. Like bro, chill 😭😭. Some people hate Nolan and think that he is overrated and not on the same level as the other greats but for me, he is definitely one of the greats. If there is one filmmaker who leaves me in awe of his craft every single time I watch a new movie by him, it's Nolan. And this film is def. in contention to be his best film ever. When it comes to space exploration movies, this film is my 2001.
