Thirteen

i’ve never seen a film like this one before. first i really liked how the color palette changed with the main character as we see her life spiral into a grey depression with seemingly nothing to live for (at least in her eyes) the story is obviously gut wrenching and hard to stomach at times, and is a cautionary tale on teen friendships, social expectations and conformity, and familial relationships. it’s so sad to see her reject the only person who truly loved her. while this isn’t my favorite type of movie per se, it accomplished exactly what it needed to. not perfect, but i think it’s better that way.
