Bones and All
Damn what a weird ass movie! An original take on a vampire type disease. Yes I know it was a novel, just nothing I have seen before. Very heavy, and at times disgusting. Not the easiest to digest, haha. Great performances across the board! I mean obviously Timothee Chalamet and Mark Rylance were terrific. But Taylor Russell is a future star, and I can't wait to see her in more.
First off I see the movie as like a drug addiction in a way. These characters can't quit it, and they destroy the ones around them. But it's also kinda of a love story and finding your place in life. Alot of different themes tackled and done really well. Nice job Luca Guadagnino!
All the performances were awesome, especially Taylor Russell, Timothee chalamet and Mark Rylance. I just want to talk about how awesome Mark Rylance was, so damn creepy. Just this lonely character that is so messed up in the head. Also talks in first person, which adds to the creepy factor.
I know I said vampire movie earlier, but honestly could argue a mix between that and a zombie movie. If a zombie was smart and alive.
Alot of eating people, very bloody! I also thought the ending was ballsy, and fucked up!
Negatives: Maybe a tad longer then it needed to be. Seemed like it was going to end a few different times. Also some minor details, as far as why a character would do certain things. More of a question to the writers in this case.
In the end, if you something different in the creature genre, check it out! You will definitely be in shock at times, but also just be awe of the performances and filmmaking aspect. If you have a weak stomach, maybe it's a stay away. Definitely some disgusting moments, but not too bad.
